You must do the following things while on the 14 Day Food Challenge:
1. Exercise everyday for at least 40 minutes, this can be a walk, run, weights, kickboxing, yoga, class, swim or team sport. If you really knew what exercise does for your body, you can not live without it!
2. Drink at least two litres of water every day.
3. Eat an alkaline food at every meal. (see our full list of alkaline foods in the healthy food section for members)
4. Eat five to six small meals a day (meal size is your hand size with fingers spread apart).
5. Never eat carbohydrates by themselves as this digests really quickly, and causes you to be hungrier. Always combine carbohydrates with a protein or essential fat. (see a full list of good/bad carbohydrates in the member section)
6. Put a protein OR an essential fat in all your meals (see a full list of these choices in the member section)
7. Do not eat carbohydrates for the last meal of the day.
8. Drink a glass of water 30 minutes before meals. No drinking with meals as it interferes with digestion of your food, making you feel bloated, and promotes gas!
Meal Options
Please use our breakfast, lunch, and dinner options listed in the healthy eating members section as a guide of what to eat while doing the challenge. Rather than tell you what to eat everyday, we have given you lots of meal options for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you make the choice!
Any of these meal options can be halved and used as one of your five to six small meals. We actually have two breakfasts every day. We have one at 5.30 a.m., before we start work with clients, and the other at 9:00 a.m., after our last morning client. We pick two of the breakfast options listed. We then do the same thing later in the day. We have an early lunch at 12:00 p.m., then a later lunch at 4:00 p.m.
Dinner for us is at 9:00 p.m. most nights, and is always our lightest meal of the day.
The number one lesson to learn from eating healthy versus eating junk or processed food is that you can eat much more healthy food because it is lower in calories. One upsized burger meal with the lot is roughly the same amount of calories as our whole day’s intake of wholesome food!
Whole Foods and Fat Loss
Your health must be your number one priority in your life because without your health, nothing else matters – not your family, your finances, your relationships, your job, nor even your contribution to society. If your health is affected, then it directly affects every other area of your life. Time is wasted from illness, money wasted on operations and doctors, and you lack the energy to engage in activities with friends or family.
It is a fact that the body does not know how to digest processed foods. These foods have been altered so much that the body does not recognize them as food. If you give your body whole foods then your body will use them, but give your body processed foods and your body will store them as fat. Which would you prefer?
The further you get from food in its natural form, the fewer nutrients it has. An example is an apple, full of vitamins and fibre. Then, look at bottled apple juice that has been processed, sweetened, and preserved. The body thinks it is pure sugar. Look at your diet. How much of it is food in its natural form? How much of it is processed, made by humans and not by nature?
From all the books on this topic that we have read, you would have to eat over five times as much food as your grandparents just to receive the same nutritional value! Therefore, we are all nutritionally deficient in some way and our bodies need good quality supplements and healthy food.
There has never been a time in history when we were aware of so many diseases, disorders, syndromes, or illness as we are today. On a global scale, we have also never invested as much money in health care as we do today. One in three of us is likely to develop heart disease; one in four will be diagnosed with cancer; and one in five suffers obesity.
So, how did this happen? It is our attitudes we have developed toward our bodies; if it doesn’t kill me right away, I will worry about it later, now I just want to have a good time. We value everything more than the health of our bodies, and it is killing us. For most of the population, our bodies are out of balance and fighting a losing battle to maintain health, vitality, and the ability to fight against disease. So how is this modern lifestyle affecting our health so much?
In one word, the answer is ACID.
Once you start your most important task of having the body you want and becoming alkaline, discipline yourself to persevere without diversion or distraction until it is 100% complete. See it as a test to determine whether you are the kind of person who can make a decision to complete something and then carry it out. Once you begin, refuse to stop until the job is finished.
Enough Information, it is time to get started!
